The Influence of Certain Organic Substances on the Growth of the Tubercle Bacillus
نویسنده
چکیده
The power of a large number of aniline dyes to restrain the growth of Bacillus tuberculosis and Bacillus typhosus has been determined. Many substances have been found with especial restraining power for the tubercle bacillus under the conditions of the test. This capacity to restrain growth in the case of the tubercle bacillus apparently bears no simple relation to true disinfectant action. Opinion as to whether the active substances exert a truly specific activity against the tubercle bacillus or whether the activity is determined by the peculiar conditions imposed by the growth of this bacterium as a surface membrane are left for future consideration.

Influence of Inorganic and Organic Selenium Sources on Broiler Performance and Meat Quality
An experiment was carried out to evaluate and compare the effects of organic and inorganic selenium (Se) sources on broiler male birds (Ross 308). Uniform broiler male chicks divided in to five groups with six replicates were fed with either normal feed (without supplemental Se, negative control), 0.25 ppm of inorganic Se, 0.5 ppm of inorganic Se, 0.25 ppm of inorganic Se + 0.25 ppm of organic ...

One of the mechanisms which has been invoked to account for the progressive disappearance of tubercle bacilli from certain types of tuberculous lesions (closed cavities, cold abcesses, etc.) is the low oxygen tension prevailing in these areas. As far as is known, tubercle bacilli depend upon molecular oxygen for growth, and the rate and extent of their multiplication decredse rapidly in proport...
متن کاملBiochemical and bioassay studies on the influence of different organic manures on the growth of Mulberry Variety V1 and silkworm, Bombyx mori Linn.
The genetic variation and diversity among fifty-eight polyvoltine silkworm genotypes was estimated by using ten economic traits. The results revealed that the single shell weight showed higher genetic variation such as PCV% (17.20%), GCV% (12.93%), and heritability (56.5%) followed by single cocoon weight, shell ratio and matured larval weight. The D2 (Mahalonobis? distance) statistics reveal...
متن کاملThe effect of two humic substances on the growth and lead Uptake of corn in calcareous soil
ABSTRACT- In the past few decades, accumulation of heavy metals, such as lead (Pb), in soils has increased as a result of human activities. The environmental hazard associated with soil enrichment in heavy metals is related to their mobility and plant availability. Application of various materials such as humic may influence the amount of Pb taken up by plant. Four levels of each of liquid and s...
متن کاملEvaluation of Toxicity of Iron, Chromium and Cadmium on Bacillus cereus Growth
Objective High concentration of iron and other trace elements could restrict bacterial growth and modify their metabolic pattern as well. However, this study aimed to find out the influence of iron, chromium, cadmium and synergism or antagonism between these elements on the growth of a gram positive bacterium. Materials and Methods In a series of experiments, Bucillus cereus was cultured in a n...
